Hot water storage

Free Hot water from your PV Array.

Technology allows you to use the surplus solar PV energy generated at your home to heat the hot water in your household water tank
- saving you money by reducing your gas or oil bills.

This is particularly cost effective where clients in rural areas are dependent on oil as fuel.
It only uses energy which would otherwise be exported back to the grid.
By maximising the use of the free solar energy generated at your property you can :

  • lower your gas bill
  • lower your oil bill
  • reduce the load / increase the lifespan on your existing boiler

It does not affect your FIT generation payments.
Where you have a "deemed" usage contract with your FIT provider you will be paid for the export value regardless of whether the energy is consumed or not.
This is based on 50% of the generation reading and will not be affected.(for sub 30kwp installations).

Where an export meter is fitted (generally over 30kwp) the benefits can still easily outweigh the rising energy costs of water heating.

It adjusts the energy flow to your immersion heater / underfloor heating or storage heaters as your home consumption varies; ensuring that only excess power is used.
There's no need to change your immersion heater as it can work with any normal household resistive immersion heater rated up to 3kW.
Also suitable for use with dual immersion systems.
The digital display informs you how much energy has been saved both historically and in real time.
The operating status is monitored and warning lights inform the user of any alerts.

It makes sense, to use as much of your solar electricity on site.as possible, and draw less from the national grid.

In effect you are storing your electricity in the form of heat, and can look forward to a tank of hot water and a warm house by using 100% of your solar energy on-site..
